My latest comic work is a weird science fiction epic FUTURE that's published as a serie of 10 magazines. The wholesome wraps its reader inside a confusing net of stories that happen on several time levels and locations throughout the universe. In all FUTURE tells stories on possible futures of the mandkind. I'm depicting the future by showing past, present and upcoming, while this all also takes place in illustrated utopias, dystopias and ideals. The wholesome flirts constantly with mainstream comics. The wholesome utilizes great variety of styles, both in its art and narration. Each level of the story is illustrated with different style of drawing. The styles themselves carry on messages through the wholesome. In all FUTURE is a startling piece of comic art – a vital and rich wholesome that manages to surprise its reader and renew the art form.

2018 was the year when I had 'officially' done comics for twenty years. Dear lord. I had of course drawn some stories before that as well but anyway, twenty years already is a damn long time. So (and because of the fact that a lot of my work is being published in small print-run anthologies and magazines around the globe, most sold out or vanished in time) I decided to work on a collection containing works from past and present. The Anthology of Mind collects together 37 short stories. In all it's a rainbow of styles and contains as well an article that deals with the why I often end up developing a new style for specific comic.

I've been working for long time on stories on this ghost-like character
called Samuel – a pale fellow, almost transparent to the world around him.
He travels through different places and states of mind. Every act is a statement.
If I had to explain some themes I'd say it's about freedom and humanity. I basicly build up stories around 'the big questions'. It's about life yup. Samuel was indeed born in my sketchbook when I tried to create a simple chacater without facial expression and express emotions through its body language :)
SIMPLY SAMUEL
This is a silent graphic novel and a comic-form horn plenty on life and being a human. It builds up in front of the reader as a puzzle of short stories and moment-capturing images. Simply Samuel is a fragmented book that ponders our daily actions and choices and values behind those. See and experience how Samuel was born, what does he do on his leisure time, how to dance tango and how does a familiar-looking small white dog come to the picture. I tried to combine a lot of different ways of narration in this. Worked on this 2012–2016.

WALKING WITH SAMUEL
The first Samuel novel I worked for 2006–2008. In comparison with the more recent title this is not so free-form but is merely short-story built. The book was originally published in 2009 in Finnish, Portuguese, Swedish, German and French. After it got sold out we did 2nd edition for which I drew 24 pages more, designed the book a bit and made a new cover. This 2nd edition was released in Finnish, Portuguese, Spanish, Danish and French. During the years I did several different covers for this one.

The Book of Hope is a story of one good life and few deaths. To be more
exact it is a story of an elderly couple who take a look back in their
life. The set of books is five total and was released in Finland, France and Belgium (in English). The compiled final edition was released 2015 and got out in Poland, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Finland and USA; later it was released as a 5-book box in French.

Snake in the Nose - kuš!, 2015, 28 pages, 105 x 148 mm
Snake in the Nose is a free-flow story about an angry man alone in his flat, reminiscent of a manic, badly-drawn Scooby Doo comic. It turns into a real nightmare after just a few pages - containing full frontal and rear nudity, and bad taste in general. Some would call this humour, but that's a bit doubtful.

An edited compilation of a pretty strange strip I made for a Finnish greenish newspaper Vihreä Lanka. The main role is acted by the oldest mummy in Europe, Ötzi, who arrives to Finland to work as an au-pair. This one does not have any English subtitles, mostly because it deals with Finnish politics and daily issues. Anyway, it was fun to make for few years as I could play with different styles inside the wholesome.

Hand-made silkscreened book by French Le Dernier Cri. You really
CAN'T beat the colours you get with silkscreening. This is a work I did
during four months spring 2010. Tried to keep this thematically coherent,
otherwise it's a mess again. What stands out is PANIC. The images here
are not from the printed books, but the original artwork. To see the book,

Glömp was an annual international anthology I edited and published 1997-2009. It was about exploring comic form. There are ten issues out, #7 and #10 still available. However, Glömp is over for me but let's see if there's someone else to continue it. The last issue titled GlömpX was an experiment on 3-dimensional comics. Besides the book we made a 10-show tour around Europe, Russia and China. The project site for more is here.
